GENRE
Although Raheem will be the star of the show, we are collaborating with our casting director, Heather Basten (CSA, CDG), to secure high-profile figures from the UK music and entertainment industry to boost the show's commercial appeal. Additionally, we will be bringing in fresh, young, and talented actors to enrich its ethical core.
The total budget for the mini-series is £100k for 10 episodes. However, we are seeking £30k upfront to produce the pilot and the first two episodes, which will coincide with the release of the album's first three singles. This approach will allow us to test the market’s response and attract interest from TV streamers and record labels, ensuring a more secure and risk-averse completion of the project. The average cost of £10k per episode is achievable due to the short duration and contained settings of each episode.
Once the buzz gains momentum, the audience data will be leveraged to pitch the series to TV networks for the entire show to be available exclusively on their streaming platform. Additionally, the TV network will be offered the first right of refusal for a potential second season. The data will also be used to attract record labels to the album and future music from Raheem Bakare.
The initial plan for the first three episodes is for them to live online, on Raheem’s YouTube channel. This will be accompanied by a PR, marketing and social media campaign designed to drive traffic towards it. This will include a press screening/ listening party in both London & Los Angeles to activate the buzz and excitement. The aim is to attract a larger audience to the YouTube channel & all DSPs.
Exclusive Streaming Deal: "Man of the House" is a niche but culturally relevant series which is tied to music so it will attract a targeted audience. Also baring in mind the duration of each episode, it is reasonable to expect a licensing fee of between £500k to £1.5m for projects like these on the lower to mid-tier at the big streamers like Netflix, Apple TV, Amazon Prime etc. However for smaller UK only streamers like BBC iPlayer, Channel 4, ITVX, NOW TV etc, the expectation would be £100k to £250k.
We will be prioritising global streamers and propose a 25% share of the fees from this deal (after recoupment) as a return on investment. However, if we only land on a UK streamer as a backup, we propose a 50% share (after recoupment) instead. If the series is successful and picked up for a second season, the original investor could secure a stake in future seasons or related spin offs, creating a long-term revenue stream.
